Areas of expertise: Law, including substantive law, legal culture, and practice settings. I'm also good with issues around radicalisation, terrorism and counterterrorism, and radical movements generally but particularly from a law of armed conflict perspective.

Experience: I've been a practicing lawyer for a decade in a common-law jurisdiction. I graduated from a prominent and internationally recognized law school, and also enjoy adding realistic (to a degree) law into my fanworks. Part of my degree included a course in the law of armed conflict, and while that is not my practice area, I've done a fair amount of reading on terrorism and counterterrorism, radicalisation, and other political movements out of interest.

Other notes about labor offered: I'm willing to brainstorm and beta a fic for you which involves law in some capacity. This might mean a character that is a lawyer; this might be casefic for a police procedural, or this might be a full on trial scene in court that you want to make realistic. My specific expertise is in common law, but I can take a stab at civil law as well. If you throw in war, that works well with me too!

My own works might provide a guide for what I can do, particularly the Legal Worldbuilding Guide and any fics that are titled like a legal decision.

In terms of general betaing, I'm particularly strong on worldbuilding and character development, and I'm sharp on grammar. Although I'm willing to SPAG-beta and read for structure, flow, etc for any fandom, if I do not know your fandom I will not be able to check characterization or canon details for you.

Especially interested in: Trial scenes and casefic are where I am most helpful, but I also love worldbuilding and character development arcs!
